Our treatment process

1. Your Consultation

During your consultation, your dental history will be reviewed, and a comprehensive oral examination will be conducted. This will help us devise a personalised treatment plan for you.

2. Your Treatment

Whether your treatment involves tooth cleaning, fillings, extractions, or even more complex procedures, like root canals or dental implants, our team will prioritise your comfort and safety.

3. Aftercare

It’s best to follow the specific aftercare advice provided by our dentist, following any treatments you may have.

FAQs

  • A few simple changes often make a real difference. Switch to a soft-bristled toothbrush and brush gently rather than hard, as aggressive brushing wears enamel and pushes the gums back. A desensitising toothpaste, used twice a day, can noticeably reduce sensitivity over a couple of weeks, and dabbing a little onto the sensitive spot before bed can help too. Cutting back on very acidic foods and drinks protects the enamel, and if you grind your teeth, a nightguard is worth considering.

That said, sensitivity can sometimes point to something that needs treating, like decay, a cracked tooth or gum disease. So if it’s sharp, persistent, getting worse, or affecting just one tooth, it’s best to have it checked. We’ll find the cause and sort it properly rather than leaving you to manage it alone.

  • Yes. We offer professional teeth whitening, both a faster in-chair treatment and a take-home kit you use overnight, and we’ll advise which suits you best. Because whitening is carried out by our dental team after checking your teeth and gums, it’s both safe and effective, unlike many of the off-the-shelf or salon options.

Whitening works on natural teeth, so it’s worth knowing that any crowns, veneers or tooth-coloured fillings won’t change shade, and we’ll factor that into the plan. If whitening alone isn’t the right answer for you, there are other ways to brighten a smile, such as composite bonding, which we can talk through.

  • Common signs of decay include toothache or sensitivity, especially to sweet, hot or cold things, a visible hole, pit or dark spot on a tooth, food catching in one place, or a bad taste or odour. Any of these is worth getting looked at.

The tricky part is that decay in its early stages often causes no pain at all, which is why regular check-ups matter so much. We can spot it on examination and X-rays before you’d ever notice it, and if caught really early, the first signs of decay can sometimes be halted with fluoride and better prevention before a filling is even needed. Left alone, though, decay only gets bigger, so it’s always better to check sooner.

  • The earliest and most common sign is gums that bleed when you brush or floss, along with redness, swelling or tenderness. You might also notice persistent bad breath or a bad taste, gums that seem to be shrinking back, or, in more advanced cases, teeth that feel loose.

As with decay, early gum disease is often painless, so bleeding gums are worth acting on rather than ignoring. The good news is that, caught early, it’s very treatable and often reversible, whereas leaving it can lead to lasting damage and tooth loss.

  • Yes, cosmetic dentistry is a big part of what we do. Whether you’d like straighter teeth with Invisalign, a brighter smile through whitening, to fix chips and gaps with veneers or composite bonding, to replace missing teeth with implants, or to reshape an uneven gum line, we can help. For a bigger change, a full smile makeover combines several treatments into one plan.

Everything starts with a consultation, where we listen to what you’d like to change and talk you through the realistic options for your teeth.

  • Supporting nervous patients is something we genuinely pride ourselves on, and it’s why we developed our Enjoyable Dentistry Technique™. Many of the people we look after have avoided the dentist for years, so we’re very used to helping anxious and phobic patients feel at ease.

In practice, that means a calm, welcoming environment, a team that never rushes you, and clear explanations at each step so nothing takes you by surprise. We work at your pace, and depending on what you need, we can draw on relaxation and calming techniques to keep you comfortable. The most helpful thing you can do is simply tell us when you book that you’re nervous, so we can plan your visit around that from the start.

  • Our aim is for your treatment to be as comfortable and pain-free as possible, and for most people that’s exactly how it feels. We use local anaesthetic to numb the area for anything that would otherwise be uncomfortable, and our Enjoyable Dentistry Technique™ combines that with relaxation and calming techniques to keep you at ease throughout.

  • “I have just visited Care Dental Practice. I couldn’t find a Dentist on the NHS for the last four years. Needless to say my teeth have suffered. Being a very nervous patient I was instantly made to feel comfortable, from the lovely lady on reception. The dentist I was seen by this afternoon, was both friendly ,kind and empathetic to my needs and treatment required. I am happy to say I will be returning to complete all the course of treatment and beyond. Well done excellent customer service. 108887% recommend this practice :)))”
