How do single implants work?
Single dental implants replace a missing tooth with a permanent artificial tooth that is anchored into the jawbone. A titanium implant post is surgically placed into the jawbone. Over time, the bone fuses with the implant. Finally, a custom-made crown is placed on top of the adjoining abutment, completing the restoration.

Are single implants painful?
While discomfort can be expected after the procedure, the pain is typically minimal during it. We use Enjoyable Dentistry Technique™ to ensure you’re comfortable throughout.
-
How long does it take for a single implant to heal?
It usually takes around 3 to 6 months for the implant to fully heal. The healing time can be influenced by factors such as the patient’s overall health, oral hygiene practices, and the location of the implant. It is important for patients to follow the dentist’s post-operative instructions and attend regular check-ups to ensure proper healing and to monitor the progress of the implant.
-
Who can have single implants?
Single dental implants are a suitable option for individuals who have lost a single tooth due to injury, decay, or other dental issues. The ideal candidates will have healthy gums and sufficient bone density to support the implant.
-
How do you place single implants?
A small incision is made in the gum tissue to expose the underlying bone. A hole is then carefully drilled into the bone to create a space for the implant. The implant, which resembles a screw, is then inserted into the hole and secured in place. Over time, the surrounding bone will fuse with the implant, providing a stable foundation for the replacement tooth that will be attached to it. The entire process typically requires multiple visits to the dentist’s office, allowing for adequate healing and integration of the implant before the final natural-looking tooth-replacement; the crown, is fitted. None of this should cause distress or discomfort thanks to our Enjoyable Dentistry Technique™.
-
Are single implants easy to maintain?
Just like natural teeth, they require regular brushing and flossing to remove plaque and food particles. Additionally, regular dental check-ups and professional cleanings are crucial to ensure the implant’s longevity.
-
How durable are single implants?
With proper care and maintenance, dental implants can last a lifetime. The success and longevity of your dental implants largely depend on factors such as your oral hygiene habits and their overall health.
Permanent, securely-fixed replacement teeth
One of the main issues that single dental implants can address is the aesthetic concern of a gap in your smile. When a tooth is missing, it can cause embarrassment and self-consciousness, affecting your self-esteem. Dental implants provide a natural-looking replacement, blending seamlessly with the surrounding teeth to create a beautiful smile. You should be able to eat more comfortably and enjoy increased jawbone heath as a result of having just a single implant fitted.

“I have just visited Care Dental Practice. I couldn’t find a Dentist on the NHS for the last four years. Needless to say my teeth have suffered. Being a very nervous patient I was instantly made to feel comfortable, from the lovely lady on reception. The dentist I was seen by this afternoon, was both friendly, kind and empathetic to my needs and treatment required. I am happy to say I will be returning to complete all the course of treatment and beyond. Well done excellent customer service.
