How do fillings work?
Fillings are used to restore teeth that have been damaged by decay or fractures. The process begins with the removal of the decayed or damaged portion of the tooth, leaving behind a clean and healthy surface. Once the tooth is prepared, a filling material is used to fill in the space left by the decay or damage. This material, usually a composite resin or amalgam, is carefully placed and shaped to match the natural contours of the tooth. The filling works by providing support and strength to the tooth, preventing further decay and restoring its functionality.

Are fillings painful?
The expectations patients have about experiencing a filling are often more painful than the procedure itself. We use our trademarked ‘Enjoyable Dentistry Technique™’ to ensure the treatment is not painful and that you’re as relaxed and comfortable as possible throughout.
-
How do I know if I need a filling?
If you experience tooth sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures, have a persistent toothache, or notice a visible hole or cavity in your tooth. Please book a consultation with us. We’ll inspect your teeth for any signs of decay or cavities. We may also use dental X-rays to get a better look at the structure of your teeth.
-
What are fillings made of?
The most common types of fillings include amalgam, composite resin, porcelain, and gold. Our fillings are custom-made and then cemented to the tooth.
-
How long do fillings last?
Fillings last 5 to 15 years, or longer with extra care. If your filling does need to be replaced, this will likely be spotted during a regular dental check up.
-
Are dental fillings safe?
Dental fillings are generally safe and have been used for many years to preserve the integrity of the teeth.
-
How much do fillings cost?
We offer varying price points for fillings. The cost will depend on the required cosmetic finish. We can colour-match your filling to blend with the rest of your teeth, if you’d like the filling to be unnoticeable. Grey or silver amalgam fillings offer an effective and affordable solution.

“Brilliant service every time. Wonderful, highly professional and friendly dentists and reception staff. They treat you with care and respect and are very genuine. The only thing i’d improve is that I feel that the music in the main reception needs to be turned down a notch (little loud at times) and perhaps something a little more ambient and soothing maybe more appropriate. Otherwise, it’s a beautiful setting, clean facilities and nice waiting area. They’re the best in the area.”

“This review is for the outstanding work Doctor Taran. When I visited the practice to have the Invisalign treatment to straighten my teeth on the top and bottom. I am very happy with the final result. Great banter with DT while I had the treatment. All the best and thanks once again.”
